Thanks for your interest in volunteering at Maker Faire Silver Spring. To sign up for a volunteer shift please follow this link.
A Maker Faire features innovative projects created by inventors, hackers, crafters, artists, and do-it-yourselfers of all kinds. Projects can range from robotics and electronics, to metal-working and larger than life interactive artwork. The goal of the festival is to demonstrate creative and unusual pursuits, in order to inspire others to explore their own curiosity and to make something new and different.
We need volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and with running activities during the festival. There are three shifts available: 8:00am-1pm; 10am-3pm; 1:30pm-6:30pm. Volunteers are welcome to work more than one shift. We particularly need assistance during the morning shift for set-up, and in the later afternoon, for break-down.
Our volunteers are important to us and we will try to make the experience as fun for you as possible. The volunteer coordinator will assign you to whatever need is most pressing during the festival. When you check-in let the volunteer coordinator know if you have any physical limitations or don’t want to be doing a specific task.
Check-in for Maker Faire Silver Spring volunteers will be at the festival site at the information booth on the plaza, located near the corner of Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street.
Dress appropriately for the weather. If it is raining – wear a raincoat. It could be hot. Wear sunscreen and sneakers (or other very comfortable shoes).
